Aftercare Advice
General Healing Care
Appropriate healing products should never have scents/ fragrance to them.

Suggested healing creams include, Green Glide, Green label polysporin, or CeraVe moisturizing body lotion. If unsure, please always double check with your artist
Treat your tattoo as an open wound.

Derm
Otherwise known as second skin
-The second skin layer can be left on for 5-10 days

-If the bandage is compromised in any way, it needs to be removed

-You can wear it in the shower, but try to avoid getting warm water on it or having water pool inside of it. The heat of the water will help to lift the derm when you are trying to remove it, but for keeping it on you want to avoid this.

-Although you can wear it in the shower, do not submerge it in water. Be mindful doing dishes or working/ rubbing the area.

-If you puncture the derm, a plasma bubble pops and/ or seeps out of the edges of the bandage it needs to come off

-If you are even unsure if it is compromised, please take an image and notify your artist.

-Using warm water helps loosen the bandage and makes it easier to come off

-It is not a wax strip

-Try to slowly and gently pull the bandage off with as little tension as possible, (roll it down or stretch it out)

-As soon as the derm comes off, the skin needs to be gently cleansed and moisture applied
Cleaning and Drying
-Wash your hands, and unwrap the tattoo

-In the shower, use warm water and unscented, antibacterial soap to clean the dead skin, residual ink, sweat and plasma off of the area

-Be gentle, take your time, and do not harshly scrub

-Pat dry with a clean piece of paper towel, again, no scrubbing or rubbing.

- Let it air dry just until the skin becomes tight and then apply a thin layer of moisturizer

-If rewrapping, make sure that it is not too tight and consult your artist before doing so
Basic Info
-Do not pick, scratch or rub your new tattoo

-Avoid tight clothing in the location for at least 4 weeks, even if the skin appears to be healed and sealed

-Do not submerge a new tattoo in water. It is okay to shower, never the bath

-No hot tubs, saunas, pools or spas

-Avoid excessive sweating, this can lead to bacteria and salt getting into the wound and causing irritation

-Always clean your hands before touching a new tattoo

-You need to clean your tattoo very gently with unscented, antibacterial soap

-Never use alcohol based products on an open tattoo

-Never allow fresh tattoos to come into contact with pet hair, saliva, bathroom towels, tight clothing or anything that could harbor bacteria
Tattoos usually take 10-21 days to heal fully. They will be red and swollen the first couple of days, then they should tighten and dry out and thin scab will form.
If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to your artist so they are made aware and can guide you on what to do.
